People are at the heart of United Markets, and we believe in giving back to the community.
In a popular program that makes a difference in our kids’ education, schools distribute United Markets Community Cards to parents and teachers. When shoppers show their cards at checkout, 3 percent of their purchase goes directly to their designated school.
The program started out with 20 schools and, is now up to 70. Your United Markets has given back over $ 2 million so far!In another small but effective program – “United Nickel Jars” -customers who bring in their own shopping bags get a nickel credit for each bag. They can either apply the credit to their grocery bill, or donate the proceeds to our “charity of the month.” Between both stores, you donate anywhere from $250 to $700 per month! Past recipients of this great program include Senior Access, Autistry Studios, Beyond Hunger, Image for Success, and California Coastal Cleanup.
As well, local nonprofits have the opportunity to advertise onthe back of our grocery bags. They provide the artwork, and United pays to have the bags printed. And we also do a bi-weekly “United Markets Testimonial Ad” in the Marin Independent Journal, spotlighting the good work of local nonprofit groups, or just highlighting the interesting activities and lives of local residents
